Desert
Questions for the personal desert
In the Bible, the desert is not an empty place; it is the place where God speaks to the heart. There, external voices are silenced, and one can hear what one often avoids amidst the noise of life.
During this retreat, we have looked into our inner garden. We have acknowledged wounds, struggles, and giants that sometimes paralyze us. We have also discovered that God is not scandalized by our story; He enters our lives to heal, forgive, and fill us with hope.
This moment is not for judging or punishing yourself inwardly. It is for looking at yourself with the same eyes with which God looks at you, with truth, but also with mercy.
Allow the Holy Spirit to accompany you during this time. Ask Him for light to recognize what needs healing, courage to name it, and confidence to place it in God's hands.
About your inner garden:
If your heart were a garden, how would you describe its state today?
What parts of your life do you feel are most neglected or hurting?
What past experiences continue to influence the way you think or react today?
What “weeds” (resentments, fears, negative thoughts) have grown in your heart without you noticing?
About the giants in your life:
What are the “giants” that intimidate or paralyze you today?
Is there any fear that is preventing you from moving forward or trusting God more?
What situations or memories make you feel small or incapable?
In what areas of your life do you need to learn to look more to God than to your problems?
On forgiveness:
Is there anyone you still find deeply difficult?
forgive?
What specific wound continues to cause pain in your heart?
Is there someone you've forgiven in words, but not yet
With your heart? Is there something you need to forgive yourself for?
Regarding your relationship with God:
How has your relationship with God been lately: close,
distant, routine, or intermittent?
What real place does God occupy in your decisions and in your life?
daily?
What do you feel God is asking you to change or heal in this
moment of your life?
On protecting what God wants to heal:
What situations, environments, or relationships harm your inner peace?
What boundaries do you need to start setting to take care of your heart?
What spiritual habits do you need to strengthen to maintain your
healing process?
Regarding the step that God invites you to take:
If God were to ask you today to take a concrete step towards your healing,
Which one would it be?
What decision could you make today to start taking care of yourself?
Better the garden of your heart?
“Don’t be afraid to look into your heart. God doesn’t
enters your life to criticize what is
not to do evil, but to heal what hurts and to do
to make what seemed lost bloom”
